Buying from Weidian, Taobao and 1688 with Pikobuy, in Plain Terms

Short answer: Pikobuy is an agent that buys items from Chinese marketplaces on your behalf: you open the item on Pikobuy, pay for it, and Pikobuy has it delivered to its warehouse in China. Later you pay a second time to have your items sent abroad.

Terms you meet first

Marketplace. The Chinese website where the seller lists the item: Weidian, Taobao, Tmall or 1688.

Listing. The seller's page for one product, with photos, options and a price.

Agent. A service, here Pikobuy, that buys from the listing for you because many sellers only sell inside China.

The steps

  1. Open the listing on Pikobuy. Use the button on our product pages or paste a marketplace URL into the link converter. Pikobuy product links carry the full marketplace URL plus our referral parameters.
  2. Choose a variant. A variant is one combination of options, such as size L in black. Option names may be loosely translated, so compare photos and the size chart in centimetres.
  3. Pay for the item. This item payment covers the product and the seller's delivery to Pikobuy's warehouse.
  4. Wait for arrival. The warehouse is where Pikobuy receives, photographs and stores your items.
  5. Ship. International shipping is a separate payment, made once your items are in the warehouse.

Three marketplaces in plain terms

Weidian: lots of small shops, popular in community spreadsheets. Taobao and Tmall: very large consumer marketplaces. 1688: a wholesale site, where a minimum order quantity (the smallest number of pieces the seller will sell) can apply.

Prices on our pages are reference figures; Pikobuy shows the current price. Browse best finds to compare items before choosing.
